Woodoku Journey Level 53
๐ Walkthrough
Overview
Halloween Challenge Level 53 is a five-color gem collection level and the final level of the batch. The objective bar at the top lists five gem types with their required counts: green 2, light-blue 2, dark-blue 6, gray 1, and orange 1. Gem tiles of all five colors are scattered across the 9x9 board, and the level ends when every required gem on the board has been removed. Gem tiles are removed the moment a complete row or column that contains them is cleared โ the same line clear that fills an empty line also sweeps up every gem sitting on that line. The winning video opens on the tripledot splash screen, then drops into the level with the board roughly one-quarter filled and all five objective counters active. The run winds down to the final "WELL DONE!" banner with every counter at 0 and five gems floating up off the dimmed grid.
Step-by-Step Solution
- When the level loads, scan the board and note where each color sits. The dark-blue gems are the most numerous (6 required) and are spread across the board, while the gray and orange gems (only 1 each) are sparse and easy to leave behind. Build early clears around the abundant dark-blue gems.
- Start placing the offered wood blocks into open pockets on the outer edges. Anchor small corner pieces and short bars along the top, bottom, and side rows so that you are filling lines that already contain a gem. Each completed row or column removes the gems on it and decrements the matching counters.
- By the middle of the attempt (around the 33% mark of the video), the counters read 2/2/6/1/1 and the board is roughly one-quarter filled. Focus on completing horizontal rows that cross the dark-blue gems, since clearing one such row removes several dark-blue gems at once.
- As the counters fall, switch attention to the sparse colors. The gray and orange gems (1 each) are easy to forget; whenever an offered piece can complete a row or column that still holds a gray or orange gem, take it. By the late stages the counters are down to roughly 0/0/1/0/0 โ only one dark-blue gem remains.
- For the final clear, arrange the offered pieces so that the last open slot on a row or column containing the final dark-blue gem is filled. The line flashes and clears, the gem is swept off, and the last counter drops from 1 to 0.
- Immediately after the final clear the board dims, the collected gems float upward off the grid, and the "WELL DONE!" banner appears with all five objective counters reading 0. The level is complete at this point; the video then cuts to a closing ad.
Strategy & Reasoning
This level is won by line clears, not by filling space. Because gems are removed only when their row or column is completed, the winning approach is to deliberately aim clears at the gem-dense rows rather than randomly stacking blocks. Clearing through the dark-blue-dense rows early removes most of the abundant dark-blue gems in a few moves, and reserving column clears for the sparse gray/orange gems prevents those from being stranded late. Keeping the board from filling up is still essential: a crowded board removes your ability to choose which line to complete next.
Tips & Common Mistakes
- Do not pile blocks into the center just to fill gaps; you want the gem-bearing lines left open for clearing.
- Keep track of the low-count colors (gray = 1, orange = 1, green = 2, light-blue = 2). It is common to finish the dark-blue gems and then realize the gray or orange gems are still sitting untouched in a corner.
- If only one gem type remains, do not place pieces randomly โ identify exactly which row or column holds that gem and build toward completing it.
- Avoid wasting a large piece on a line that has no gems; that fills space without advancing any objective.
- The level ends the instant the last gem is cleared; you do not need to clear the whole board.
