Woodoku Journey Level 46
๐ Walkthrough
Overview
Woodoku Journey Level 46 is a Halloween block-placement puzzle on a 9ร9 wood-grain board with a single apple objective: collect 9 apples. The apple orchard occupies the top-left corner as three separate bush clusters (two in the top row, one in the second row). Apples are harvested by completing a full row or column that passes through a bush cell. You drag wood shapes from the bottom tray in sets of three, and completed lines disappear. The level is won when the apple counter reaches zero; it is lost when no tray piece fits.
- Difficulty: Regular
- Estimated moves: ~20
Step-by-Step Solution
- At the 65-second opening the apple counter reads 9. The three orchard clusters sit in the top-left corner, and the board has a light scattering of pre-placed blocks. The tray opens with a small stair-step piece.
- Begin by extending the top row to the right of the orchard. The orchard already fills the leftmost cells of row 1, so filling the rest of that row clears it and harvests the apples sitting there.
- Feed short horizontal bars into the second row, which also holds an orchard cluster on the left. Because the top two rows are already partly filled by the bushes, they need fewer new pieces than the lower rows.
- By the 130-second frame the counter has dropped to 6 and the board is around half filled. The top orchard rows are now largely cleared, and the remaining apples are buried in the surviving bush cells.
- Build the columns that run down from the orchard. Once the top rows clear, vertical columns through the remaining bush cells become the next target; fill them downward with compact corner pieces.
- The lower half of the board is where most open space remains. Use the corner and short-bar pieces here to set up horizontal clears that also sweep the bottom of the orchard columns.
- The recording ends with the counter still at 6 and the board roughly 60% filled, without reaching either a win or a game-over screen. The reference attempt does not complete the level.
Strategy & Reasoning
The orchard is anchored in the top-left, so the fastest route is to clear the top rows first, then "mine" downward through the columns beneath the bushes. The reference run does collect three apples (9 โ 6) early, confirming that servicing the top orchard rows is the right opening.
The danger on this board is that the lower half fills up before the orchard columns are fully swept. Once the easy top-row apples are gone, the player has to build vertical lines from the cleared top down to the remaining bush cells, and that requires the middle columns to stay open. The correct habit is to keep the center columns clear while finishing the orchard, rather than filling the bottom rows with long bars early.
Tips & Common Mistakes
- Mistake: starting in the bottom rows. Correct: clear the top orchard rows first while they are cheapest to finish.
- Mistake: dropping long bars across the middle. Correct: reserve horizontal bars for the orchard rows; use compact pieces in the center columns.
- Mistake: letting the orchard columns get blocked. Correct: after a top row clears, immediately look at which columns still reach the remaining bushes and keep them open.
