Woodoku Journey Level 27

๐Ÿ“ Walkthrough

Overview

Level 27 is an 8x8 wood-block puzzle board in the Halloween Journey skin, with red mailbox decorations scattered across the board and spider-web accents in the bottom corners. The objective is to collect four envelope-shaped gems, which are hidden under pre-placed wood blocks. The board starts with a fixed pattern of filled cells, and the mailboxes are fixed obstacles that cannot be removed. Your job is to place pieces into the gaps between the pre-filled blocks so that you complete rows and columns, which clears them and collects the envelope gems underneath. This is a regular-difficulty stage and should take roughly ten moves.

  • Difficulty: Regular
  • Estimated moves: 10

Step-by-Step Solution

  1. When the level opens, pause and study the board. Four envelope gems are hidden under the pre-filled wood blocks. Red mailboxes are fixed on the board and cannot be moved. The board already has a scattered pattern of filled cells, and your first tray contains three small pieces: a small L-corner, a tiny zig-zag, and a short horizontal bar.
  1. Look for the rows and columns that are almost full. In this starting pattern, several rows already have six or seven filled cells and are missing only one or two cells to complete a clear. Identify those near-complete lines first, because completing them collects gems immediately.
  1. Take the short horizontal bar and lay it across the row that is missing exactly three contiguous cells. The bar should snap into the gap and complete the row. As soon as the row fills, it clears automatically, the cells vanish, and any hidden envelope gems in that row are collected. You should see the gem counter drop from four toward two.
  1. Pick up the small L-corner piece and look for a column that is missing two cells. The L-corner fits naturally into a corner-shaped gap, so place it so that one cell fills one gap in the column and the other cell fills an adjacent gap. This completes the column, triggers a clear, and collects more gems.
  1. Use the tiny zig-zag piece next. The zig-zag is the most awkward shape in the tray, so place it early while the board still has open pockets that accept it. Drop it into the remaining gap that matches its offset shape, completing another row or column.
  1. A new tray of three pieces appears. The counter should now read roughly one or two gems remaining. The board has opened up because several rows and columns have cleared, leaving larger empty spaces.
  1. When a horizontal four-bar arrives, lay it across a row that already has four filled cells and is missing four contiguous cells. This completes the row in one move, clears it, and collects the next gem.
  1. When a small L-corner or zig-zag arrives, use it to fill the last one or two gaps in a column that is almost complete. The center cluster of gems is now almost entirely exposed; each new clear reveals another gem.
  1. At this point, the counter reads roughly one gem remaining. The board is half-empty from the clears you have already done.
  1. Use the next horizontal bar to complete the next almost-full row. Watch the counter drop to zero.
  1. As soon as the counter reaches zero with a checkmark, the board dims and the "WELL DONE!" text fades in over the tiles with floating envelope icons. The level is cleared.

Strategy & Reasoning

This level plays like level 22: the gems are hidden under pre-filled blocks, and the winning strategy is to scan the board for rows and columns that are one or two cells away from a clear, rather than chasing visible gems. Every piece you place should be chosen specifically to fill the gap in a near-complete line. If you instead place pieces into empty corners, you are just filling space without collecting anything.

The red mailboxes are fixed obstacles that you have to plan around. They occupy cells that cannot be filled, so you should not try to place pieces on them. Instead, build around them and let them act as natural anchors.

The main failure mode on this level is over-filling the board. Because the gems are hidden, new players sometimes keep placing pieces into empty cells "to build up" the board, but this just blocks the gaps you need. The correct approach is to only place pieces that complete an existing line; leave the rest of the board empty.

Tips & Common Mistakes

  • Mistake: Placing pieces into empty cells to "build up" the board before clearing. Correct approach: only place pieces that complete an existing near-full row or column. Extra filled cells just block future gaps.
  • Mistake: Trying to place pieces on top of the red mailboxes. Correct approach: mailboxes are fixed obstacles; build around them.
  • Mistake: Wasting the four-bar on a row that only needs two cells. Correct approach: save the four-bar for rows that are missing exactly four contiguous cells; small pieces handle the smaller gaps.
