Woodoku Journey ยท Level 60

Woodoku Journey Level 60

๐Ÿ“ Walkthrough

Overview

Level 60 is an apple-collecting Journey level on a 9ร—9 board, with a move budget of 36. The top of the screen shows an apple icon and a counter that starts at 36; your goal is to place wooden blocks on every apple tile on the board. Apples sit in a dense cluster in the middle rows (rows 4โ€“6), surrounded by pre-placed light blocks on the left and right edges. The strategy is to sweep the central cluster first, covering as many apples per piece as possible, then use the remaining moves to clear rows/columns so the board does not fill up. The primary recording for this level fails ("NO SPACE LEFT" at 13 apples remaining), so the walkthrough below uses the successful fallback recording.

  • Difficulty: Regular
  • Estimated moves: 36

Step-by-Step Solution

  1. At the opening frame (t=10), the apple counter reads 36. You can see the apple cluster: a horizontal row of five apples in row 4, a second row of three apples in row 5, and a single apple in row 6. The tray offers a small L-corner, a wider L, and a horizontal 5-bar. Start by dragging the horizontal 5-bar directly onto the row of five apples in row 4. This collects five apples in one move and drops the counter to 31.
  1. Next, place the wider L-piece so its bar covers the three apples in row 5. The L's stem dips down to cover the single apple in row 6. After this placement, all nine central apples are gone, and the counter reads roughly 27.
  1. The remaining apples are spread in smaller clusters around the board. Place the small L-corner in the upper-left pocket, covering two apples near row 2 column 2.
  1. By t=120, the counter reads 10. The board is half-filled; the apple cluster has been whittled down to a single vertical line of apples in column 6 rows 4โ€“6. The tray offers a vertical 3-block. Drop it onto that column to collect all three remaining apples in one move.
  1. From here the game is pure space management. With 10 apples left at t=120 and the board getting crowded, prioritize placements that cover an apple AND leave a clear row for the next piece.
  1. At t=240, the counter reads 2. Only two apples remain, both in the center-right area. The tray offers a T-piece and an L. Place the T so its stem covers the apple at row 5 column 7; the T's bar sits across row 5, which is already nearly full, triggering a row clear.
  1. At t=270, the counter reads 1. The last apple sits at row 4 column 7. The tray offers a small 2-block L. Place the L so one block lands on that apple and the other extends into row 4 column 8.
  1. As soon as the block touches the final apple, the counter flips to 0, three big apple icons pop up on screen, and "WELL DONE!" appears (t=350).

Strategy & Reasoning

The key to this level is the opening 5-bar. The board is deliberately laid out with a row of exactly five apples in row 4; the tray's first horizontal 5-bar is designed to cover them all at once. If you instead start with smaller pieces and spread them around, you waste moves on individual apples and fill the board edge-to-edge without triggering clears โ€” which is exactly what happens in the failed primary recording.

The middle game is about not letting the central apple cluster sprawl. After the opening big placements, the remaining apples are isolated; each one needs its own piece. The winning recording keeps the board symmetric by placing L-pieces on the left and right edges alternately, which creates partial rows that can be cleared with a single long bar later.

The final apple is the hardest. By the time only one apple remains, the board is so crowded that the tray pieces barely fit anywhere. The recording's last placement works because it uses an L that extends into an already-nearly-complete row, which both covers the apple and triggers a clear. If you instead use a straight vertical piece on the last apple, you may not have space for the next piece and will hit "NO SPACE LEFT."

Tips & Common Mistakes

  • Mistake: Ignoring the row of five apples and starting with small pieces. Correct approach: Use the opening 5-bar to cover all five central apples in one move; this saves four moves.
  • Mistake: Piling pieces on one side of the board. Correct approach: Alternate left and right placements so partial rows build evenly on both sides.
  • Mistake: Leaving the last apple for a straight vertical piece. Correct approach: Use an L or T on the final apple so the placement also triggers a row clear and opens space.
