Woodoku Journey Level 44

๐Ÿ“ Walkthrough

Overview

Woodoku Journey Level 44 is a Halloween block-placement puzzle on a 9ร—9 wood-grain board with a single envelope objective: collect 7 envelopes. The envelopes are produced by two red mailbox boxes fixed in the center of the board, one slightly above and to the left of the other. You harvest a mailbox by completing the row or column that passes through its cell. Wood shapes are drawn from the bottom tray in sets of three, and any fully completed line disappears, sweeping up whatever special cell it crosses. The level is won when the envelope counter reaches zero and lost when no tray piece fits.

  • Difficulty: Regular
  • Estimated moves: ~20

Step-by-Step Solution

  1. At the 39-second opening the envelope counter reads 7. Two red mailboxes sit offset in the center, and the board already has a scattered pattern of light-wood blocks around them. The tray opens with a horizontal 3-bar.
  2. Place the horizontal 3-bar in the upper-left open pocket to anchor that side without disturbing the mailbox rows.
  3. Begin filling the row that contains the upper mailbox. Feed short corner and L pieces into the gaps on either side of it so that this row is one piece away from completion.
  4. Build the column that runs through the lower mailbox at the same time. Because the two mailboxes are offset, servicing both their shared center columns is more efficient than finishing one row fully before the other.
  5. By the 78-second frame the counter has dropped to 3 and the board is just over half filled. The two mailboxes are now ringed on all sides, and the tray offers a 2ร—2 square and a small corner piece.
  6. Tuck the 2ร—2 square into the open center-left pocket and use the corner piece to plug the last gap in the row leading to the upper mailbox, aiming to clear it and harvest another envelope.
  7. The run then stalls. At the 117-second frame the board is dense with scattered blocks, the counter remains at 3, and the screen displays "NO SPACE LEFT". The reference attempt does not complete the level.

Strategy & Reasoning

The two offset mailbooks share a central region, so the optimal plan is to build a small dense block around them and complete whichever line has the fewest gaps. The reference run does collect four envelopes (7 โ†’ 3), which shows that the central-clearing approach is correct.

What ends the run is over-expansion. Once the easy center lines are partly built, the player fills the outer rows and columns until the board has no clean 2ร—2 or long-bar slots left. On a two-mailbox level you should resist spreading outward and instead finish the half-built center lines one at a time, clearing before new blocks are added.

Tips & Common Mistakes

  • Mistake: filling the corners before the mailbox lines. Correct: reserve every piece for the rows and columns touching the two mailboxes.
  • Mistake: using the 2ร—2 square in an open corner. Correct: save the square for a genuine hole inside the central cluster.
  • Mistake: letting the lower rows fill up early. Correct: keep a couple of wide open rows for the long bars that finish the mailbox lines.
