Woodoku Journey Level 67
๐ Walkthrough
Overview
Level 67 is a two-color gem collection level on a 9ร9 board, starting with 20 red gems and 20 gray gems (40 total). The gems are arranged in a dense cross pattern across the top two rows, the bottom row, and scattered in the middle. All four available YouTube recordings for this level end before the player reaches "WELL DONE" โ the longest recording gets down to 2 red gems remaining before the video cuts to an ad. This walkthrough describes the opening and mid-game strategy visible in those recordings.
- Difficulty: Hard
- Estimated moves: ~45 placements
Step-by-Step Solution
- At the opening frame (t=10), the board shows 20 red and 20 gray gems. The top two rows are packed with gems in columns 1โ9. The tray offers a small horizontal 2-bar, a 1-block, and a T-piece.
- Start by placing the T-piece in the upper-left gap, covering the gray gem at row 2 column 3.
- Place the horizontal 2-bar across row 3, covering the two adjacent red gems.
- Place the 1-block on the isolated red gem at row 5 column 5.
- Continue sweeping the top two rows. By t=180 (3 minutes in), the counters read 6 gray and 9 red โ the player has drained gray faster than red. The board's lower half is now partially filled with light blocks.
- At t=300, counters read 1 gray and 6 red. The gray counter is about to hit zero. The next several moves must focus on red gems.
- At t=380, the gray counter hits 0 (checkmark appears), but 5 red gems remain. The player is now in the late game: every remaining piece must land on a red gem.
- At t=460, 4 red gems remain. At t=545, 3 red. At t=560, 2 red. The video then cuts to an advertisement.
Strategy & Reasoning
With 40 gems on a 9ร9 board, this is one of the densest gem levels. The opening strategy across all four recordings is identical: sweep the packed top two rows first, because they contain ~10 gems in a 2ร9 strip that is easy to clear with horizontal bars.
The mid-game imbalance (6 gray vs 9 red at t=180) is a known trap. The winning strategy would be to deliberately shift focus to red once gray drops below red. The archived recording's mistake is that it continues placing pieces wherever they fit geometrically, which drains gray to zero while 6 red gems remain โ at that point, the board is too crowded to reach them.
The late game (2 red gems left at t=560) requires the tray to offer a small piece that fits the exact gap. The player got unlucky โ the tray offered a horizontal 4-bar that could not fit the remaining gaps, and the video ended.
Tips & Common Mistakes
- Mistake: Ignoring the color imbalance. Correct approach: When one color drops below the other by 3+, switch focus to the lagging color.
- Mistake: Sweeping the bottom row first. Correct approach: Sweep the packed top rows first; the bottom row gems are easier to reach later.
- Mistake: Placing large pieces in the center. Correct approach: Keep the center open; late-game small pieces need a landing zone.
