Woodoku Journey Level 68
๐ Walkthrough
Overview
Level 68 is an apple-collecting level on a 9ร9 board with 24 apples hidden in bushes. The apples are clustered in two 2ร3 blocks: one in the upper-left corner (rows 1โ2, columns 1โ3) and one in the lower-right corner (rows 8โ9, columns 7โ9). A few pre-placed light blocks sit near each cluster. Both available YouTube recordings for this level end before completion โ the closest recording leaves 1 apple at row 1 column 1.
- Difficulty: Hard
- Estimated moves: ~35 placements
Step-by-Step Solution
- At the opening frame (t=10), the board shows two apple bushes: a 2ร3 block at upper-left (6 apples) and a 2ร3 block at lower-right (6 apples). Wait โ the counter says 24, meaning there are additional apples hidden in the bushes that are not visible yet. The tray offers an L-corner, a T-piece, and a vertical 4-bar.
- Start by placing the vertical 4-bar along the left edge (column 1, rows 3โ6), which extends the board downward from the upper-left bush.
- Place the L-corner over the upper-left bush at row 1โ2, columns 1โ2. This covers 4 apples in one move.
- Place the T-piece over the lower-right bush at row 8โ9, columns 7โ8.
- Continue sweeping. By t=120, the counter reads 6 apples remaining. The upper-left bush has 2 apples left; the lower-right bush has 4.
- At t=220, the counter reads 1 apple. The last apple is at row 1 column 1, surrounded by light blocks.
- The tray offers a horizontal 3-bar and a small L. The player tries to place them but neither fits the 1-cell gap around the last apple. The video then cuts to an ad.
Strategy & Reasoning
The level is structured as two corner clusters. The opening strategy is to clear each cluster with a large piece that covers 3โ4 apples at once. The vertical 4-bar on the left edge is a strong opening because it extends the upper-left cluster downward.
The mid-game (6 apples left at t=120) requires filling the center of the board. The winning recording places pieces in the middle rows, building toward row clears. The mistake in the archived recording is that it does not trigger enough row clears, leaving the last apple isolated in a corner.
The final apple at row 1 column 1 is a classic corner trap. To reach it, you need a 1-block or a 2-piece that can fit the corner gap. If the tray does not offer a small piece at the end, you get stuck.
Tips & Common Mistakes
- Mistake: Treating the two clusters as separate. Correct approach: Clear both clusters evenly; if you drain one to zero, the board becomes lopsided.
- Mistake: Wasting large pieces on empty center cells. Correct approach: Use large pieces on rows that are already nearly full, to trigger clears.
- Mistake: Leaving the last apple in a corner. Correct approach: Try to leave the last apple in a center cell where multiple piece shapes can reach it.
