Overview

Level 27 says "Someone is in the water! save him!" A large water vat stands on the grass next to a tree, and a drowning child inside is only visible by a hand sticking out of the surface. You cannot reach down and pull him out because the vat is too tall and full. This retells the famous "Sima Guang breaks the vat" story: find a heavy object and smash a hole in the side so the water drains. There is a rock lodged in the fork of the tree beside the vat.

Step-by-Step Solution

1. Assess the problem. A child is drowning inside the tall, water-filled vat, and you are standing outside unable to reach him.

1. Do not try to reach in. The vat is too big and deep; you cannot pull the child out by hand.

1. Look at the tree. A large rock is wedged in the crook / branch of the tree next to the vat.

1. Use the rock to break the vat. Drag the rock (or tap it and then the vat) to smash it against the side of the vat near the bottom.

1. A hole appears. The rock cracks a hole in the wall of the vat, and all the water gushes out onto the grass.

1. The child climbs out. With the water drained, the boy crawls out through the hole, safe. The prompt reads "You saved a child!" and the green next button appears.

Strategy & Reasoning

This is the classic Chinese story of Sima Guang and the water vat. When a child fell into a full vat, instead of trying to fish him out (impossible for a small child), Sima Guang broke the vat so the water would drain and the boy would be saved. The game recreates that logic.

The tree deliberately has a heavy rock tucked into its branches — that is the tool. Pushing or tapping the vat barehanded does nothing; you need the weight and hardness of the rock to break the ceramic. Once the side near the bottom is smashed, the water pours out and the water level drops, freeing the child without anyone having to pull him up.
