Brain Out 2 Level 30
๐ Walkthrough
Overview
Level 30 asks "How can I buy ice cream without getting wet?" A sad boy stands near an ice cream truck, but the path to it is wet because a red fire hydrant in front of the truck is spraying water everywhere. There is a broken umbrella and a loose kite string floating around as distractions. Instead of trying to stay dry in the spray, you simply stop the water by shutting off the fire hydrant. Once the spray stops, the boy walks to the truck and buys his ice cream dry.

Step-by-Step Solution
- Read the problem. The boy wants ice cream, but the ground/path to the truck is wet because water is spraying.
- Do not use the umbrella. The broken umbrella floating above is not going to help; the water is coming from the hydrant on the ground.
- Find the source of the water. A red fire hydrant in front of the truck is open and spraying water onto the path.
- Close the fire hydrant. Tap the hydrant / turn its valve to shut it off. The spraying water stops.
- The path is dry now. With no more water spraying, the way to the truck is clear.
- The boy buys ice cream. He walks up to the truck and happily holds an ice cream cone. The prompt reads "Summer is all about having an ice cream!" and the green next button appears.
Strategy & Reasoning
The obvious reaction is "I need an umbrella to stay dry in the rain/spray," which is why a broken umbrella is drawn into the scene. But the water is not rain โ it is a single open fire hydrant spraying horizontally. If you turn the source off, there is nothing to get wet from, and you do not need an umbrella at all.
This is a "fix the cause, don't manage the symptom" puzzle. The umbrella, the kite string, and the little swirls in the air are red herrings meant to make you think about shielding yourself. The real lever is the hydrant itself: closing it stops the spray at the source. Once the water stops, the dry route to the ice cream truck opens and the boy can buy his cone.
The ice cream seller and the truck are unchanged; only the hydrant needs to be shut. The reward shows the boy at the window with his ice cream and no water anywhere, confirming the hydrant was the problem.
Tips & Common Mistakes
- Mistake: grabbing the umbrella. The broken umbrella does not shield the boy and is not the solution.
- Mistake: waiting or walking through the spray. Walking through the water still gets him wet.
- Mistake: ignoring the hydrant. The water comes from the open fire hydrant. Tap/close the hydrant valve to stop the spray; then the dry path lets the boy reach the truck and buy ice cream.
