Woodoku Journey Level 32

๐Ÿ“ Walkthrough

Overview

Level 32 is an 8x8 wood-block puzzle board in the Halloween Journey skin, with spider-web accents in the bottom corners. The objective is to collect six red-apple gems (each rendered as a small green leaf/berry cluster on the board). The gems are scattered in two clusters of three: one in the upper-middle rows and one in the lower-middle rows. This is a regular-difficulty stage and should take roughly twelve moves.

  • Difficulty: Regular
  • Estimated moves: 12

Step-by-Step Solution

  1. When the level opens, read the gem layout. Six apple gems are spread across the board in two loose clusters. The first tray contains small L-corner and short horizontal pieces.
  1. Start by placing the short horizontal bar across a row that already has a couple of filled cells. This establishes a horizontal anchor that you can extend later.
  1. Take the small L-corner and place it on one of the apple gems in the upper cluster. Angle the L so that one cell covers the gem and the other two extend along a row. This collects that apple and begins a horizontal anchor line.
  1. Pick up the next small piece and drop it near the next apple. The offset shape fits naturally into a corner pocket, so tuck it in so that its covering cell lands on the gem.
  1. A new tray appears. Watch the counter: you should now see roughly four gems remaining. The board still has large empty zones in the lower half. Continue placing pieces so that each new piece touches the cluster you have already built.
  1. When a small T-piece arrives, aim it at one of the apple gems in the lower cluster. Place one cell on the gem and let the rest of the T extend along a row or column. This collects the apple and extends a line that can later be cleared.
  1. Keep routing pieces toward the gem clusters. The apples are spread out, so working through them one at a time with small pieces is the safest approach.
  1. When a horizontal bar arrives, lay it across a row that already has several filled cells. This both collects an apple and sets up a future line clear. The line clear resets the row to empty, which opens space for the next tray.
  1. By the midpoint of the run, the counter shows roughly three gems remaining. The board is now quite filled, with wood blocks packed across the middle rows.
  1. Use the next horizontal bar to complete an almost-full row, which triggers a clear and opens up a pocket of empty cells.
  1. Drop the next L-corner piece into the pocket you created, covering the second-to-last apple. As soon as it seats, the counter drops by one.
  1. The final small piece should be shaped to reach the last apple. Drag that piece so its covering cell lands on the last apple. The moment it snaps in, the counter drops to zero, the board dims, three large red apples rise on screen, and the "WELL DONE!" celebration plays. The level is cleared.

Strategy & Reasoning

The key to this level is that the apple gems are spread across two clusters, so the temptation is to place large pieces on top of the whole cluster at once. That is a mistake, because large pieces fill in the gaps between the gems and block the line clears you need. Instead, work through the cluster one apple at a time with small pieces, and let line clears happen naturally.

Building long anchor lines matters because it gives you natural line clears that reset rows and columns. Every piece you place on a long line does double duty: it collects an apple and it extends a line that can later be cleared. A line clear both scores points and resets a row to empty, which is the only way to keep the board alive when the tray starts delivering larger pieces late in the run.

The main failure mode on this level is running out of space before the last apple is collected. That happens when players scatter pieces across the board instead of stacking them, leaving isolated single-cell pockets that no piece can fill. By keeping all filled cells connected in a single compact cluster, you preserve large open rectangles that can absorb any piece the tray delivers.

Tips & Common Mistakes

  • Mistake: Placing large pieces on top of the whole gem cluster at once. Correct approach: work through the cluster one apple at a time with small pieces, leaving gaps for line clears.
  • Mistake: Scattering pieces evenly across all eight rows. Correct approach: stack pieces in one connected cluster on the gem cells.
  • Mistake: Trying to force row clears before all gems are collected. Correct approach: let clears happen as a side effect of placing pieces on gem cells.
