Woodoku Journey Level 24

๐Ÿ“ Walkthrough

Overview

Level 24 is an 8x8 wood-block puzzle board in the Halloween Journey skin, with spider-web accents in the bottom corners. The objective is to collect six red gems that are clustered tightly in a small 2x3 block in the upper-middle area of the board (around rows 2 through 3, columns 4 through 5). There are also some dark blue gems on the board that get collected early in the run. The red cluster is the real challenge: because the gems are packed together, you have to place pieces that cover them without filling in the surrounding gaps that you need for later line clears. This is a regular-difficulty stage and should take roughly twelve moves.

  • Difficulty: Regular
  • Estimated moves: 12

Step-by-Step Solution

  1. When the level opens, read the gem layout. Six red gems are packed into a compact 2x3 block in the upper-middle area, around rows 2 and 3, columns 4 through 5. A few dark blue gems are scattered elsewhere on the board. The first tray contains three small pieces: a small L-corner, a tiny zig-zag, and a short horizontal bar.
  1. Start by collecting the dark blue gems that are easy to reach. Use the short horizontal bar to cover one of the scattered dark blue gems, laying it across a row that already has a couple of filled cells. This does two things: it collects that gem and it begins a horizontal anchor line.
  1. Take the small L-corner and place it against the edge where another dark blue gem sits. Angle the L so that one cell covers the gem and the other two extend along a row. This collects the second dark blue gem and extends your anchor line.
  1. Pick up the tiny zig-zag piece and drop it into the gap near the last dark blue gem. The zig-zag's offset shape fits naturally into a corner pocket, so tuck it in so that its covering cell lands on the gem. By this point, the dark blue counter should flip to a checkmark at zero.
  1. Now turn your attention to the red cluster. The six red gems are packed in rows 2-3, columns 4-5. Do not try to cover the whole cluster at once; instead, place one small piece at a time on the outer edges of the cluster. Start with a small L-corner placed on the top row of the red cluster, covering the red gem at row 2, column 4.
  1. Use the next piece to cover the adjacent red gem at row 2, column 5. The goal is to work through the cluster one gem at a time, placing pieces that touch the cluster and extend outward into empty space rather than filling in the gaps between gems.
  1. As you collect each red gem, the row or column you are filling may complete and clear. A line clear here is very helpful, because it resets a row and opens up space around the cluster. Let clears happen naturally as a side effect of placing pieces on the gems.
  1. When a horizontal bar arrives, lay it across the row that contains the next row of red gems. This covers two or three gems in one move and sets up a future clear.
  1. By the midpoint of the run, the red counter should read roughly three gems remaining. The board is now partially filled, with wood blocks packed around the red cluster. Stop building outward and focus on reaching the last few gems.
  1. Use the next small L-corner to cover the fifth red gem. As soon as it seats, the counter drops to two.
  1. Drop the next piece into the pocket that reaches the second-to-last red gem. The counter drops to one.
  1. The final small piece should be shaped to reach the last red gem. Drag that piece so its covering cell lands on the last gem. The moment it snaps in, the red counter drops to zero with a checkmark, the board dims, and the completion animation plays. The level is cleared.

Strategy & Reasoning

The key to this level is that the red gems are packed together, so the temptation is to place large pieces on top of the whole cluster. That is a mistake, because large pieces fill in the gaps between the gems and block the line clears you need. Instead, work through the cluster one gem at a time with small pieces, and let line clears happen naturally.

The dark blue gems scattered around the board are a warm-up. Collect them first with the first few pieces, because they are easy to reach and they let you build anchor lines before you start on the tricky red cluster. If you skip them and go straight for the red cluster, you will find yourself short on pieces when you need them.

The main failure mode on this level is running out of space. That happens when players pile pieces on top of the red cluster without leaving gaps for line clears. By working one gem at a time and letting clears happen as a side effect, you keep the board open and avoid the NO SPACE LEFT failure that the reference video demonstrates.

Tips & Common Mistakes

  • Mistake: Placing large pieces on top of the whole red cluster at once. Correct approach: work through the cluster one gem at a time with small pieces, leaving gaps for line clears.
  • Mistake: Ignoring the scattered dark blue gems and going straight for the red cluster. Correct approach: collect the dark blue gems first with the opening pieces, which builds anchor lines and warms up the board.
  • Mistake: Filling in the gaps between gems. Correct approach: leave gaps open so that line clears can happen; filled gaps just block future clears.
