Brain Out 2 Level 6
๐ Walkthrough
Overview
Level 6 tells you to "Put the mouse in a cage!" An empty wire cage stands in the upper-middle area with its door open, a grey mouse sits down on the left looking excited, and a piece of cheese sits off to the right. The obvious approach โ drag the mouse up into the cage โ does not work because the mouse will not go in. The trick is to reverse the action: instead of moving the mouse to the cage, drag the cage down over the mouse. Once the cage is lowered onto the mouse, the mouse ends up trapped inside and the level clears.

Step-by-Step Solution
- Look at the scene. There is an open empty cage near the top, a grey mouse below it on the left, and a wedge of cheese off to the right. Your goal is to get the mouse inside the cage.
- Do not try to drag the mouse. Dragging the mouse up toward the open cage either fails or the mouse refuses to go in. The mouse is not cooperating.
- Do not bother with the cheese first. The cheese looks like bait, but you do not need to drag it into the cage to lure the mouse. It is a distraction.
- Grab the cage itself and drag it down onto the mouse. Place your finger on the wire cage and pull the whole cage downward, so it lowers over where the mouse is sitting.
- Release over the mouse. When the cage is positioned around the mouse, let go. The mouse ends up enclosed inside the cage bars.
- Confirm the clear. The cage now sits on the left with the mouse trapped inside, and the prompt changes to "If the mouse doesn't come, let the cage pass!" The green next button appears, confirming the reverse move worked.
Strategy & Reasoning
This level tests reversing the assumed direction. The wording "put the mouse in the cage" makes you think the mouse must travel to the cage, but the mouse is stubborn and will not move. Brain Out's solution is to bring the cage to the mouse instead. The reward text spells this out literally: "if the mouse doesn't come, let the cage pass" โ meaning move the cage over to the mouse.
The cheese is deliberately placed as classic mouse bait to mislead you into trying to lure the mouse. But there is no need for bait here because the cage itself can be moved. Once you realize the cage is a draggable object rather than a fixed prop, the answer becomes obvious: lower it over the mouse from above.
Trying to stuff the mouse into the cage door or pushing the cheese toward the mouse wastes time. The single correct interaction is dragging the cage down. The open door is just decorative โ you do not need to line the mouse up with it, because the whole cage drops over the mouse.
Tips & Common Mistakes
- Mistake: dragging the mouse into the cage. Players pull the mouse upward, but it will not enter. Move the cage instead.
- Mistake: dragging the cheese as bait. The cheese is not needed. You can leave it where it is; the solution does not involve bait.
- Mistake: dragging the cage without covering the mouse. The cage must be lowered so that the mouse is fully inside the wire frame. If the mouse is still outside the bars, drag the cage further down until it encloses the mouse.
